Phone service for e-health project
One of my researchers is paying too much for the phone service that collects data from rural areas. I would be interested in how other researchers have dealt with phone/data plans while they are in country [reply]
We contracted with a local provider for coverage which has been pretty good, and use local SIM cards to keep costs down
We are conducting conference calls, and need to know what system to use.
We used Conference Plus, but switched to Ready Talk, which is cheaper, and doesn't charge more for mobile phones. Skype is free, but often has connection issues on multi-calls
We are starting data collection in 324 health care facilities in 8 districts using cell phone data entry. The project is using "Closed User Group" plan which allows unlimited talk/text for group members (facility to data manager, to cloud, to main project office, and between facilities) for a fixed monthly fee.
The "Global Plan" for my smart phone doesn't include Tanzania!
We need housing June 2014-15 in Dar. Anyone to share costs or take over the lease? [reply]
Need an in country co-ordinator
I'm be setting up an ortho-trauma study at MOI that will last about two years. We are looking for an expat coordinator with project management skills. Know someone who might want to spend a percentage of their time on this study? [reply] You will need a budget of aprox $40Kto hire an expat, as Dar is very expensive to live in. Students can often commit a year, and can be an amazing resource to launch smaller studies on a tight budget.
